Terms of Service

Last updated: May 2025

Scope and purpose

These Terms of Service govern your use of the website and services provided by Drift Flux Spectrum Nova. By accessing this website or purchasing any service, you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, please refrain from using the site or its services.

Drift Flux Spectrum Nova provides curated science reading lists, innovation briefings, and one-to-one research consultations. These terms apply equally to all three service formats unless stated otherwise.

1. Service usage terms

1.1 Acceptable use

  • Services are provided for personal, non-commercial use unless otherwise agreed in writing.
  • Content delivered as part of a service may be read, saved for personal reference, and discussed privately, but may not be reproduced, distributed, or published without permission.
  • You may not use the service in a way that misrepresents the origin or authorship of the material provided.

1.2 Prohibited uses

  • Reselling, sublicensing, or commercially redistributing content delivered through any service.
  • Using the service in a manner that violates applicable law or infringes on third-party rights.
  • Attempting to access, extract, or copy site content through automated means.
  • Submitting false, misleading, or fraudulent information through forms or communications.

1.3 Fair usage

Consultation sessions are scheduled on a one-to-one basis. Requests to extend sessions beyond the agreed scope, or to receive deliverables substantially different from what was agreed, may be declined or subject to a separate arrangement.

2. Account and access

2.1 Account creation

Some services may require an account or subscription arrangement. You are responsible for providing accurate information when registering and for keeping it current.

2.2 Account security

If credentials are provided, you are responsible for keeping them confidential. Any activity under your account is your responsibility. Notify us promptly if you suspect unauthorised access.

2.3 Termination

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate access to services if these terms are breached. Subscriptions may be cancelled by either party with reasonable notice; the terms of any specific service arrangement take precedence regarding notice periods and refunds.

3. Service availability and modifications

3.1 Uptime and maintenance

While every effort is made to keep the website and services accessible, no specific uptime guarantee is given. Scheduled or emergency maintenance may result in temporary unavailability.

3.2 Changes to service

The format, scope, or pricing of services may be updated over time. Existing subscribers will be notified of material changes with reasonable advance notice before those changes take effect.

3.3 Geographic availability

Services are offered primarily in Japan and to international readers in English. No guarantee is made that all features will be accessible from every jurisdiction.

4. Intellectual property

4.1 Ownership

All original content on this website — including text, selection of sources, editorial annotations, and presentation formats — is the intellectual property of Drift Flux Spectrum Nova unless otherwise attributed.

4.2 Licence for personal use

By subscribing to a service, you receive a non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to use the delivered content for your own personal, non-commercial purposes.

4.3 Third-party sources

Content referencing third-party publications, research papers, or institutional material remains subject to the copyright of the original authors. This service does not grant rights to those underlying sources.

Changes to these terms

These terms may be updated periodically. Continued use of the service following notification of changes constitutes acceptance of the updated terms. Where changes are material, notice will be given with sufficient lead time to allow you to review them before they take effect.

Service availability, modifications and force majeure

Drift Flux Spectrum Nova provides its services on a reasonable-endeavours basis. While we work to keep our website and consultation channels available, scheduled maintenance, dependency outages (hosting, telephony, payment processors), public-holiday closures and events of force majeure (including but not limited to natural disasters, infrastructure failure, public-health emergencies and government action) may interrupt availability without prior notice. We will not be liable for damages arising from such interruptions, and any pre-paid sessions affected by a confirmed outage will be rescheduled or refunded pro-rata in line with our cancellation policy.

Intellectual property, content licence and acceptable use

All text, photographs, layouts, illustrations, code and trademarks displayed on this website are the property of Drift Flux Spectrum Nova (or our licensors) and are protected under Japanese copyright and trademark law as well as international treaties. You are granted a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to view and print pages for personal, non-commercial use only. You may not (a) reproduce, redistribute, mirror or publicly display our content in any form without our prior written permission; (b) use our content to train machine-learning models without an explicit licence; (c) submit content via our forms that is unlawful, defamatory, harassing or that infringes third-party rights; or (d) interfere with the security or integrity of our site (including probing, scanning or attempting to bypass authentication).

Governing law, dispute resolution and severability

These Terms are governed by the laws of Japan, excluding its conflict-of-law provisions. The Tokyo District Court shall have exclusive jurisdiction of first instance over any dispute arising from your use of Drift Flux Spectrum Nova, unless mandatory consumer-protection laws in your place of residence direct otherwise. Before formal litigation, both parties agree to attempt good-faith resolution through written correspondence for at least thirty (30) calendar days. If any provision of these Terms is held invalid or unenforceable by a competent court, that provision shall be struck only to the extent necessary, and the remainder shall continue in full force and effect.
